PCS Employee of the Month for November, 2013 - Mike Lay
December 6, 2013
Congratulations to Mike Lay, PCS Employee of the Month for November, 2013. Mike is a hard-working, tireless asset for PCS. Mike puts in countless hours on the road, on the phone (often at the same time), over video, in front of customers, demonstrating the use of technologies in education (and in board rooms), and giving presentations at trade shows where our customers are.
Mike has, over the course of his career with PCS thus far, presented to and/or trained over 10,000 educators on the benefits of technology in education. Over the last month, Mike has been on the road non-stop, training nurses, doctors, and school technology officials on the use of technology in empowering School-Based Healthcare Centers (SBHCs). The purpose of this technology is so that children who might not otherwise have access to medical care at all, now have access within their school environment. School nursing staff are connecting live with physicians via video so that kids can be diagnosed and treated without having to make doctor appointments, missing school, and without parents having to take precious time off from work to attend to all of this.
Mike has a brilliant mind for how the various relationships in education connect and influence each other. He serves as a hub for communication between many different roles in many different districts, and those aren't just in Tennessee. In fact, during the development of our customers' successful grant applicants for these SBHC grants, Mike was bringing in physician resources from other states to serve as testimonials to the success of these programs. This is a testament to the respect Mike holds in the eyes of the people he meets and influences and his ability to create and sustain positive and lasting relationships.
On top of all of this, Mike is a team player and never hesitates to offer a hand when one is needed. Congratulations Mike!
